Spring. Regardless of where we live, Spring is the season that falls between descending temperatures and hot humid days and replaces them with picnics, Easter, and open windows that invite fresh breezes inside that say relax and enjoy this season.
Tiny seeds begin to burst forth making their way up through the sun-warmed soil to sprout and become what our Creator has intended them to be.
God’s hand extends far beyond the seeds that are hidden in the earth. He hears the prayers of a young couple anxiously waiting for his answer that their seed has begun to multiply cell-by-cell until a child—their child—is introduced to a world outside the gentle and protective warmth of her mother’s womb. From the moment of conception, we are told:
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God! How vast is the sum of them! Ps. 139:14-17
Something unexpected can happen during the pregnancy journey–something that only Heavenly Father has known since the beginning of time; something that only the greatest faith and the greatest gift of grace could endure. Something that leaves us better for being broken, as the breath of life was miraculously given by Father God.
As baby Lucy Mae entered this vast world, her parents were awe-struck with inexpressible joy and tears as they gazed upon tiny fingers and toes perfectly formed, a button-like nose, a precious body as soft as angel’s wings, and the breath of life graciously given by Father God.
Big brother, T.J, though just short of three years old, is introduced to his baby sister. He smiles and gently touches her face and lays next to her as they both are cradled in the faithful arms of their mother.
Far and near, hundreds of prayers were lifted to the throne of God on behalf of this fragile life, who, for only a brief, short hours here on earth, brought many hearts together.
Spring will occur again with its soft breezes, longer days, and pink dogwood blossoms, and yet our Breath of Spring, Lucy Mae, remains with us for all seasons as she rests in the arms of Jesus until we are all reunited again in heaven.
With love,
Great-Grandma Patty
